Nyungwe Forest National Park is one of Africa's oldest and most pristine montane rainforests, estimated to be over 10,000 years old. Located in the southwestern corner of Rwanda, this mountainous region spans over 1,000 square kilometers and is home to an extraordinary diversity of wildlife.
With altitudes ranging from 1,600 to 2,950 meters, the forest's varying microclimates support over 1,000 plant species, 13 primate species, 85 mammal species, 310 bird species, 32 amphibian species, and 38 reptile species.
